Colors and Webdesign

Posted under Uncategorized, What's on my mind

I never really looked  into the subject of colors until  I was in Web Design. Just look at what I discovered through a little research.

“Colors have remarkable effects on humans; just imagine switching colors in the world.  Could we live with a yellow sky, fuchsia grass, or a black sun? The reality of this is we probably could not because we are so used to the symbolism of colors and its link in the natural world we live in” (Miclaus) Whether we realize it or not a natural absorbance of the colors is required for good health. With this said, color influences our society more than we might suspect.

When the importance of color is underestimated we make mistakes that affect us later in life. Take for instance; showing affection toward another person, love is the color red.  Don’t we use the most important and affectionate words we can find?

I don’t have enough room to go through all the colors, but take the color pink for an example. It is considered to be the most romantic. But do not get too intense with this color, because bright pink has an influence that makes you loose energy. With this in mind, some schools paint the opponents’ locker team room this color in the hopes of losing energy before the game. Oh no, just thinking about this color might make me loose energy!

“Moreover, have you noticed the way insects are drawn to you when you wear light green and orange? It is funny how such a simple notion as color has so many consequences on our natural world.” (Miclaus) Green symbolizes the environment, calming and refreshing. Green is the easiest color for the eye to take in, and as a result can also improve vision.

So as Web Design class is not over yet, just keep this in mind the next time you create a page. Different colors give a different effect. As one sends you a message through color, you are also sending a message too!

Smoking, a real life Epic Fail.

Posted under What's on my mind

The other day I was driving home after dropping my friend off at her house. I came to a stop light, and, as I often do, I looked at the people in the cars around me. To my left was an empty turn lane, and to my right… I saw a family of four. In a car. All four windows rolled almost all the way up. Seems normal enough, and sadly… it was normal. Both parents in the front seat were smoking cigarettes. I looked at them with wide eyes, then I looked back at the two children in the backseat. They glanced at me, and I clickly looked away.

It’s pretty sad when you have to accept that your parents are homicidal killers. Those parents were not only killing themselves, they were killing their children. Asthma, of course, isn’t going to be what does them in; that’s not what I’m saying. But, chances are these children are going to grow up seeing and inhaling secondhand smoke. One or both of them may become addicted to the smell. They’ll hang around their parents even more.

Eventually, they’ll turn eighteen and start smoking. Or, as often as not, they won’t turn eighteen, but they’ll start smoking. These two children in the backseat will, bordering on certainly, die from cigarettes. They’ll die just like their parents will, and probably these children’s children.

But, enough of my opinions, let me give you some documented facts about smoking! There are eleven different cancer-causing chemicals in cigarettes. Tobacco is the source of 20 times more deaths than murder. About 3000 people die every year from secondhand smoke. 100,000,000 (100 million) people died from cigarettes in the 20th century (1900-1999). 4,800,000 (4.8 million) people die all around the world every year.

One of the facts I find most shocking: There are nearly four-thousand poisons in a cigarette. Some people would say “Oh, that’s just a figure!”, but, no, it’s true. Let me break this down to you… It’s ONE THOUSAND harmful ingredients (a foreign substance that can is probably toxic, or worse)… another thousand… ANOTHER thousand. And then…almost an entire extra… you guessed it, thousand ingredients.

Some of the choice poisons in a cigarette? Insecticides (Bug-repellent). General deadly poisons. Lighter fluid ingredients. Cleaning Products. Battery Acid. About 70 different Animal or Human Carcinogens (Cancer-Causing substances). Different types of fuel ingredients. Hair Removal agents. Ingredients for Explosives. Oh, and, let’s not forget the Rat poison.

If you read this, and you smoke, or know someone who smokes, make them stop. Force them to do everything they can to stop smoking. Otherwise, you’re just an accomplice to the tobacco companies’ homicie.

What’s better: ps3 or xbox 360?

Posted under What's on my mind

I own a ps3 but i am really getting bored. the only games i do play is metal gear solid 4, call of duty 4, and grand theft auto 4. what i like about the ps3 is that i can get videos, pictures, and my music and import them to my ps3. the only games im really interested that are coming to ps3 is killzone 2 and god of war 3. but i hear from my friends that the xbox 360 is better. they say that the online service is better and it has better games than the ps3. i like the games gears of war and halo. the negative thing about the 360 is the red ring of death. so what platform is better?

The end of Senior year ‘09

Posted under Classroom Life, What's on my mind

As senior year comes to a close I realize how much of school I will miss. Knowing that Monday thru Friday you have school and knowing that you will most likely see your friends. Now that the year is up I worry on wether my friends and I will stay friends. I can only hope as much. As for classes I am definitely going to miss web design. I believe it was by far my favorite class throughout high school and i’m not just kissing butt with that one. Mr Melito is an awesome teacher and I have certainly learned a lot from him. I hope to go to college for web design and have it be a career. I am certainly going to miss high school. Especially the classes that I love taking. But who says I can’t return? I might come by for a visit. I am sure Mr Melito is ‘excited’ about that haha.

Hello, Goodbye!

Posted under Classroom Life, What's on my mind

I came to Citrus High as a new student this year but I wasn’t really looking foreward to anything but graduating. I still tried my hardest at everything that I did, even though by the end of the year my senioritis started kicking in and I didn’t feel like doing anything. I made a really good friend named Hanna, and I kept my old friends back home- the ones who really matter. I also had a lot of really great classes this year.. One of which was Mr. Melito’s Web I and II class. I really got into webdesign because my sister is a professional web designer and I was interested in knowing a little bit about what she was doing. I soon found out though that I am really good at designing, and although I still don’t know how to make a table… I know how to use the copy and paste method, lol. I came out with a lot of really great websites and a clear understanding in webdesign.
Although it feels like I just got to Citrus, I am still looking foreward to graduation and whatever lies ahead in my life. Good luck to everyone next year! Congrats class of 2009! WE DID IT! :)

I hope you had the time of your life…

Posted under What's on my mind

These words keep sticking in my head everyday as I walk my final days down the halls of Citrus High School. Some people are more than happy to leave this place, and then others [like me] are not so happy. But I have to take the positive in perspective…I have learned and grown so much. Not to mention made so many friends and great memories. I think that my web design class will help me a lot in my future, also. I’ve learned everything from the ground up and all the new tricks. I discovered some awesome sites that help with any kind of designing. I learned about new software that can help me accomplish certain tasks without too much effort, how to manipulate images into something new and how to use different web applications for cool effects. All and all I do believe these will be some of the best days of my life.

April Fools: What happened to the harmless pranks?

Posted under What's on my mind

In the past April fools day’s there’s been many jokes that shake the world up and has everyone wondering if it’s true or not, normally they’ve all been simple and harmless But as we may all know we no longer live in the past we live in fast paced computer world. With this new world of computers we  have advantages on creating new pranks that are more advanced then the Swiss spaghetti harvest and any other April fools prank that ever was. It’s called the Conficker worm. The worm is known for infecting at least 12 million computers worldwide and no one knows what the source of it is.

I think it to be one of the most creative and clever pranks I’ve ever heard of. Almost everyone uses a computer every day. So why not target every one with software that can hack your computer and take  total control. I think its brilliant and the creators of this prank we’ll go down in history for sure.

Viruses

Posted under What's on my mind

I have long pondered why people are brought enjoyment from hacking other peoples computers and putting viruses on them. The other day while i was searching random flash games i found one called maoxiandoa 6. i read the descriptioin and t=it sounded good so i played it. Not 10 minutes later i had multiple pop-ups and my computer started acting up. i checked the virus blocker i have and it said that i had multiple key loggers and viruses from the game.! I still dont know why people do it but i hate them for there viruses.

HD Video at It’s Best

Posted under What's on my mind

People may think High Definition video isn’t as significant of a difference from standard DVC quality, but let me tell you, there’s all the difference in the world. I currently use a Canon HV10 Video Camera as a videographer for http://WDWNewsToday.com. About a year ago, I made the transition to High Definition, from Standard DVC quality, and was astonished on how much of a difference in sound, and quality, an HD Camcorder really gave me. The images became crisp and clear, and didn’t lose any quality in the firewire, and rendering process. These cameras also have Image Stablization which is great for taking photos, and professional videos, as well as a large number of other qualities DVC Cameras don’t have. An HD Camcorder makes all of the difference in the world, especially when it’s a hobby, and a future profession. I highly reccomend making the transfer, if you have a few hundred dollars laying around, and you’ll see a world of a difference!
