Classroom Life Being in web design taught me all the hard work that was put into making a website, and how even one little mistake can mess up the whole layout & content of a page. I don’t know how much time I have spent looking for that one error I made. One program that helps prevents these errors is Alleycode. It highlights when you make an error in a different color, so you can go back and fix it. Another great program is Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver has all sorts of buttons you can click that provide the codes for simple things like inserting an image or changing the font face, size, & color, instead of typing the whole code out. When I first starting using Dreamweaver, I found it quite confusing, but after about a week I started getting the hang of it. There’s a variety of programs out there, but I find Alleycode and Dreamweaver as the most helpful.

Classroom Life So, we are supposed to write a blog type thing? Well before we were using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript which was totally okay. Some of the things I didn’t know because of my lack of knowledge because I took the class online but, I learned a lot in the end because of the cool effects JavaScript does and such. But, now recently we have been doing Dreamweaver! I actually like Dreamweaver a lot more because you can set up the fonts and page styling’s the way you want and it in a way sets the coding up for you. We did a lot of things in Dreamweaver with The Striped Umbrella page, where we had to insert pictures, text, and everything that went along with the different functions of the spa, café, and activities. Learning how to change the pictures was my favorite. In general I think I like Dreamweaver better, but maybe it’s because I learned from it in the beginning and so it was easier for me. Learning the backgrounds and default fonts were pretty interesting too. So all in all web design two was pretty amazing and learning all the web design things was great and I can’t wait to learn more.

Classroom Life Dreamweaver is a web application that was created by Allaire Systems, which is now owned by Adobe System. The two operating systems that will allow Dreamweaver is Mac and Windows. You are able to switch back and forth in between the web page and the HTML page where you have all of your codes. One of the pluses to this software allows you to make a quickly code and design your page just by dropping objects. When you press the design tab you will be able to see the design that you created. When you press the split tab you will be able to see the design and the HTML code on the top or the bottom. Then if you press code it will only show you the HTML code. There are many different things that you are able to do with dreamweaver, the only thing that you need to do is go into the software and explore your options that you have.

Classroom Life If you have ever designed any webpage, you have experienced the annoying process of checking and rechecking to figure out why your page is not working. This above all things in creating a webpage is the most annoying thing. I have taken a whole class period working on a webpage. Then after i pull up the page, I find that many things are not working such as links and images. Normally to fix this problem i would look through the coding and find simple errors. You can also get a friend to look over your coding to find the error. After a couple of checks of the coding you can find the error and fix the problem. So thats the annoying part of web coding…….

Classroom Life The Web Collection Revealed book by Sherry Bishop, Jim Shuman, and Barbara M. Waxer is a very detailed book that helps students understand Dreamweaver. This book really helped me undertand Dreamweaver with step by step instuctions on how to properly operate the program. The book is especially helpful in that you can edit your website, view it in the window and also pull up it’s html code! This book eliminates the need to memorize the many codes needed for the perfect website. The book also prepares students to take the Adobe Certified Associate Dreamweaver test for those majoring in some type of Web Design field. All in all, this book is very useful in helping students become experts at creating web pages.

Cool Internet Finds Hulu.com is a website for the people like myself who, with a burning passion, loathe all that is commercials. On the website there are TV shows and movies and exerpts, and movie previews. The website has many features for you to watch movies and TV shows with, it can darken the background behind the show, or you can just go to full screen; it also has two diffrent quality options, high and low def. The website is divided into several diffrent catagories, some like Comedy, Romance, Drama, and Musicals, but those are just some of the normal ones we would think of. It has a wide range of things to watch, from Family Guy to Heroes to 24 and everything in the middle. It has a button to embed the video into other websites aswell. Overall this is just a phenominal web-tool for us that prefer TV without commercials.

What's on my mind People may think High Definition video isn’t as significant of a difference from standard DVC quality, but let me tell you, there’s all the difference in the world. I currently use a Canon HV10 Video Camera as a videographer for http://WDWNewsToday.com. About a year ago, I made the transition to High Definition, from Standard DVC quality, and was astonished on how much of a difference in sound, and quality, an HD Camcorder really gave me. The images became crisp and clear, and didn’t lose any quality in the firewire, and rendering process. These cameras also have Image Stablization which is great for taking photos, and professional videos, as well as a large number of other qualities DVC Cameras don’t have. An HD Camcorder makes all of the difference in the world, especially when it’s a hobby, and a future profession. I highly reccomend making the transfer, if you have a few hundred dollars laying around, and you’ll see a world of a difference!

Classroom Life This nine weeks we have been working on Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is another alternative in making and designing your own webpage or website. Dreamweaver uses not only HTML codes but you can also design your webpage on a page you can look at. You can put images on the page and the HTML code automatically appears for you instead of you typing <img src=” “/> in your code. You can also type what you want on the actual page and it makes the code for you. Dreamweaver can help you understand HTML codes better if your having trouble on a certain code. Like most people have trouble with the table codes dreamweaver can help. I for one would rather make my own website using HTML codes on alleycode, because you have to know how to put the image on a certain way, typing on dreamweaver is pretty easy you just have to click where you want to start typing and just type what you want to say on your webpage.
